About Law Office of Julia Griffith McVey, LLC

Julia practices in the area of estate planning, estate and trust administration and marital and premarital agreements.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado Business School and her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. Julia is an elected Fellow of ACTEC (The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel).  She has been a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations since 1991 and is a member and past chair of The Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council. An active member of the Trust and Estate Section of the Colorado Bar Association, Julia participates in various committees and has served as a Council Member of the Trust & Estate Section. 

She is a frequent lecturer for the Bar Association’s continuing legal education courses, has authored articles for both the Colorado Lawyer (“Marital Agreements” and “Marriage, Divorce and Annulment When One Party is Arguably Incapacitated”), and Council Notes (“Estate Planning and Administration with Guns – a Moving Target”).  For over ten years she served as Co-Editor of Council Notes (a quarterly newsletter distributed to members of the Trust and Estate Section) and she is Co-Editor of the Colorado Estate Planning Handbook (a publication of the Colorado Bar Association CLE). 

Julia is committed to giving back to the community as well.  She is presently board chair of the Lutheran Medical Center Foundation.  She served as co-chair and member of the Professional Advisor’s Council at Community First Foundation (now known as Colorado Gives Foundation).  She was a founding Partner and former Steering Committee Member of Social Venture Partners (SVP-Denver), a donor advised fund affiliated with the Denver Foundation; is past Chair and past Board member of Denver SCORES, a non-profit organization providing an after school creative writing/soccer program for elementary students in the northwest Denver area; and is a current Board member of GuateStar, a non-profit organization formed to assist the indigenous population of Guatemala with educational, spiritual and community projects.

Paralegal

Alma Tretteen was born and raised in Billings, Montana and moved to Denver to pursue a career. Following her career in accounting, Alma found her true passion for work in the field of estate planning, and probate and trust administration which she has been doing for the past 15 years.  In her free time, Alma enjoys snowboarding, camping and dancing.  She is devoted to her family and loves to spend time with her children, Jaylynn and Jordan.

Legal Assistant

Lisa is a native of Denver, and has decades of experience as an administrative professional.  She earned a Certificate from the Denver Paralegal Institute, and has been supporting engineering firms and law firms for the past last 25 years.  Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time in nature and in spiritual community, choral singing, and learning about sustainable landscaping and how to grow food.
